FAQ’s

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that your nervous system, consisting of your brain, spinal cord and all the nerves, controls and regulates every cell, tissue, organ and system of your body. God created your body with the ability to regulate and heal itself. Interference, compromise or distortion to nerve messages between the brain and body can not only produce pain locally at the spine but also affect the health and functioning of any organs and tissues connected to those nerves.

Chiropractors find areas of nerve interference along the spine from misaligned vertebrae called vertebral subluxations and use a series of precise and gentle chiropractic adjustments to bring wayward spinal bones into proper alignment, reducing nerve interference. With the body’s self-healing capacity restored, not only do symptoms diminish, but your entire body is able to heal and function at its greatest capacity.

Who Are Doctors of Chiropractic?

Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) are healthcare professionals who specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders related to the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, with a particular focus on the spine. They are trained to provide non-invasive, drug-free care, most commonly through spinal adjustments and other manual therapies, to help restore proper alignment, improve function, and support the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Chiropractors complete rigorous academic and clinical training, including a doctoral-level program, passing national board examinations, and becoming state-licensed. DCs receive ongoing training in orthopedics, neurology, radiology, pediatrics, sports medicine, nutrition and others. Dr. Witter has completed over 350 hours of continued education, most especially Advanced Clinical Training in Nutrition Response Testing.

How will I be treated?

The main therapeutic procedure performed by DCs is the chiropractic adjustment. You will also be taken through a series of orthopedic and neurological tests for further evaluation. DCs utilize diagnostic procedures beyond the physical examination, including X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans when clinically indicated. Most treatment plans will utilize focused stretching and strengthening at home to help restore optimal posture and hold your adjustments.

How Long Until I Feel Better?

Patients frequently experience rapid symptomatic relief. However, the healing process can take weeks or months, and sometimes even years. Every patient recovers at his or her own pace. Factors which can affect the healing process include your age, your overall health condition, muscle tone, diet, and even your mental attitude.

When Will I Get My First Adjustment?

It depends upon your complaint and how long it may take to study your examination findings. This is a clinical decision and varies from patient to patient. Many patients can be gently adjusted on their first visit.
