What is the Chi Rho?

The Chi Rho (☧) is pronounced like the first part of “chiropractor” — a beautiful providence, as this ancient symbol of Christ is also at the heart of our healing mission.

It is formed by superimposing the first two Greek letters of the word ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ (Christos), meaning “Christ” — Chi (Χ) and Rho (Ρ).

In the year 312 AD, before the Battle of the Milvian Bridge, Emperor Constantine the Great experienced a divine vision. He reportedly saw a symbol in the sky — the Chi Rho — with the words “In this sign, conquer.”

Constantine ordered the symbol painted on his army’s shields and banners. Although significantly outnumbered, he emerged victorious. This moment marked a turning point in history, leading to the Edict of Milan and the legalization of Christianity in the Roman Empire.

The emblem became a powerful declaration of Jesus Christ as Lord, even before the widespread use of the cross. Today, it serves as a reminder of Christ’s presence, authority, and victory.

At Chi Rho Corrective Spinal Care and Wellness, we draw inspiration from the Chi Rho not just as a symbol, but as a way of life. Our mission is to honor Christ in all we do, bringing His healing spirit into our care.
